Gern

Gern is an Apprentice Embalmer at the Palace of Djelibeybi under his Master, Dil. This young man is plump and red-faced and facies himself as a bit of a joker. As an apprentice, however, he is developing well and has been allowed to work single-handedly on a cat. He also has a secret and shy interest in Glwenda, the daughter of a local garlic farmer.

His practical jokes are akin, in humorous content and originality, to those perpetrated by generations of medical students on the bodily parts of those who leave themselves to medical research.
